Students are coming home with a small packet of information specific to them which includes how to log in and register for the fundraiser. Last year my class had a ton of fun and won lots of class and individual prizes. Basically students ask for sponsors and then log their reading. They can also answer questions to earn coins on the website. I can log in and comment/like their activity. The first incentive/prize is awarded for all students who register over the weekend.

    • Message from the PTA:Attention Parents!  Bennie PTA is in desperate need of help!  Next year all board member positions are available.   Bennie will no longer operate a PTA unless we have these member positions filled.  PRESIDENT       TREASURER SECRETARY      V.P.The PTA cannot run without these 4 vital positions! Once these 4 positions are filled, the PTA will still not be able to offer these events without members to chair:

      Bennie Gives Back

      Bingo for Books

      Family Fun Night

      Walk to School

      Field Day

      Staff Appreciation

      Assemblies

      Teacher birthday baskets

Because all of our current board members, and chair members, are at their term limits, all the faces you may know at Bennie will no longer be able to continue to fill the roles listed above.  Your current board and chair members are willing to mentor and guide you through the beginning process, however we need someone to help make a difference and try something new! Please consider helping out the PTA next year!

    • Another PTA message:
      Dear Families,
There are 2 wonderful family events coming up at the end of the month here at Bennie. The PTA and Science night committee are in need of a couple of things to make the nights successful. They are looking for donations of gently used children, young adult and adult books for Bingo for Books on February 28th. If you are able to donate any of these items please send in to school by Wednesday, February 26th. We appreciate your support!
    • March is an exciting time in our school and classroom! Since it is reading month we are going to be celebrating by doing some fun reading activities. One big one is our One Book One School initiative. Coming home today in your student’s folders will be a chapter book titled, “The Tale of Despereaux”. Inside the book there is a bookmark that explains what chapters to read at home and when. This book is theirs to keep. I will also be reading the chapters to the class after lunch each day starting next week. There will be fun trivia to participate in and we will watch the movie when we finish. Another fun activity is our mystery reader program. I sent home a note about mystery readers so if you would like to participate please fill it out and send it back ASAP. Finally we will be participating in a genre book tasting and Get Caught Reading program where I will call your student at home and see if they are reading, if they are they get entered into a drawing! Please return those slips if you would like your child to participate.
